
KOTA KINABALU: A 34-year-old jobless man was fined RM10,000 or in default seven months’ jail for entering Pulau Tiga Park without permission to fish.
Sessions Court Judge Marlina Ibrahim handed down the sentence after Jamri Jamalul admitted to the charge on Wednesday.
The court heard that Jamri entered the gazetted area near Pulau Tiga in Kuala Penyu between 5.09am and 6.26am on July 31 this year without written approval from Sabah Parks authorities.
He was said to have committed the offence together with another person who was not present in court.
The offence falls under Section 48(1)(p) of the Sabah Parks Enactment (Amendment 2024), which carries a maximum penalty of one year’s jail, or a fine of up to RM50,000, or both.
