SHAH ALAM: Police have yet to establish the identity of a man whose body was found in the wheel well of an aircraft at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA Terminal 2) nearly a month ago.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said police had not received any new information that could confirm the deceased’s identity, despite an earlier media statement issued by KLIA police.
“As of now, we have not received any further information that can confirm the identity of the deceased.

“Although a media statement has been issued by the district police chief, no individual has come forward so far to provide relevant information,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters here today.
Shazeli urged members of the public with missing relatives to contact the police if they believed the deceased could be their family member.
“If there are family members who have not returned home or are missing, and there is a possibility that the person found at KLIA is their missing relative, they should contact the KLIA district police chief or any nearby police station.
“This will help us complete the investigation,” he said.
The body was discovered on Aug 27 in the wheel compartment of an aircraft parked at KLIA Terminal 2 after arriving from Tokyo, Japan.
Previous reports said airport engineering personnel found the body at about 6.55am while opening the aircraft’s wheel well. The aircraft had landed at about 6.30am.
KLIA police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Ravi previously said the body was in a decomposed state and was found lying face down, with no identification documents recovered.
The deceased was estimated to be aged between 17 and 25 based on his physical build.
He was wearing a white hoodie bearing a dragon image on the back and the word “Oakley” on the front, light blue jeans, a brown leather belt, socks and black sports shoes.
Police said no visible injuries were found on the body, which was sent to the Forensic Department of Hospital Serdang for a post-mortem examination.
The case is being investigated as a sudden death.
Asked whether police had established if the deceased was a foreign national, Shazeli said this could not be determined as his identity remained unknown.
He also declined to speculate on how the man ended up inside the aircraft’s wheel compartment.
“That remains a question for us.
“This is not the first case where an individual has been found inside an aircraft’s wheel storage compartment.
“I do not want to make any conclusion because it may later turn out to be inaccurate.
“We will wait for the investigation findings from the KLIA OCPD,” he said.
