A decomposed body of a young man was discovered inside the wheel well of an aircraft that arrived at KLIA Terminal 2 from Tokyo, Japan.
SEPANG: The body of an unidentified individual was found inside the wheel well of an aircraft at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2, here this morning.
An engineering staff member discovered the body at about 6.55 am while opening the wheel well of the aircraft that had arrived from Tokyo, Japan, at 6.30 am.
Bernama understands the staff member noticed a foul smell before opening the compartment and discovering the remains, then alerted the KLIA Terminal 2 Police Station Operations Room.
A Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Forensic Unit dispatched to the scene established the victim was believed to be in their 20s and had been dead for more than 72 hours.
Police have not released further details about the case. Efforts to obtain updates are ongoing.
Meanwhile, KLIA police chief ACP M. Ravi said in a statement said that the department received a report about the body’s discovery from the airport operations control centre at 7 am today.
He said a check of the aircraft’s right wheel well led to the discovery of a man lying face down and deceased.
“An examination of the body revealed no identification documents, and the corpse was in a decomposed state,” he said.
He said the deceased was estimated to be between 17 and 25 years old based on physical size. The victim was wearing a white hoodie with a dragon graphic on the back and the word ‘Oakley’ on the front.
“The deceased was wearing light blue jeans, a brown leather belt, socks, and black sports shoes.
“There were no physical injuries found on the body. The remains have been taken to the Serdang Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem,” he said.
He said the case is being investigated as a sudden death report (SDR) and advised the public not to speculate to avoid spreading false information.
