
PAPAR: Police here arrested a 39-year-old man believed involved in cable theft during an operation carried out at a house in Bongawan, last Tuesday.
District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the individual was detained following a sting carried out by a team from the Papar Criminal Investigation Department (CID) after a police report was lodged by Telekom Malaysia (TM) on Oct 15.
“The team carried out inspection in which led to discovery of a sack containing cables believed belonging to TM.
“Also confiscated were items believed to have been used for criminal activities such as hacksaw, metal cutter and knife,” he said.
Following the operation, he said it was later revealed that the suspect had past criminal records. The suspect was remanded for four days to facilitate investigation under Section 431A of the Penal Code.
Kamaruddin reminded the public to continuously play their roles in channeling information to the authorities regarding any criminal activities in their respective areas.
