
TAWAU: A man was arrested for allegedly threatening his father with a machete at an unnumbered house, here.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the arrest followed a report lodged by the suspect’s elder brother, who feared for the safety of their family.
“The complainant reported that the suspect became aggressive and threatened their father with a machete measuring 65.8 centimetres,” he said, Sunday.

Police from the Sri Indah Police Station were dispatched and arrested the suspect.
“The suspect and the seized weapon were taken to the Sri Indah Police Station before being handed over to the Tawau District Police Headquarters (IPD) for remand proceedings,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which carries a sentence of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
In a separate case, Jasmin said police also arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly stealing 10 bottles of perfume worth approximately RM328.
“The suspect was apprehended in the Jalan Apas area in connection with a theft at a retail premises and is currently under remand at IPD Tawau,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which provides for a prison sentence of up to 10 years, a fine, or both if convicted.
