BEAUFORT: Police arrested a man for alleged sexual offences involving incest, while three other men were detained in separate cases involving palm oil fruit theft and drug offences on Tuesday.
Beaufort Police Chief Supt Champin Piuh said officers from the Beaufort District Police Headquarters (IPD) Criminal Investigation Department arrested a man to assist investigations into two separate cases involving molest and incest.
“The cases are being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code and Section 376(3) of the Penal Code,” he said.
Champin said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) views all reports of sexual offences seriously and remains committed to taking firm action under the law.
He urged the public not to remain silent if they become victims of, or are aware of, abuse or sexual crimes, and to report such incidents immediately to enable swift action to protect victims and ensure justice is served.
In a separate operation, police arrested two men to assist investigations into the alleged theft of oil palm fruit from an estate in Beaufort.
Champin said the arrests were made following information received that the suspects were harvesting and piling up oil palm fruit in the plantation.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Urine screening conducted at the Beaufort Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) found one of the suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
In another unrelated case, BSJND officers arrested a 22-year-old man after he also tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
