
Kota Kinabalu: A 28-year-old man was jailed 14 months’ by the Magistrate’s Court for having a stolen motorcycle.
Abdul Rahman Pet Joh pleaded guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to having the machine belonging to Akamal Zaidi at 1pm on July 29 this year at Taman Putra Jaya here.
The court heard from the prosecution that the motorcycle was reported missing on July 5 at a parking lot near a bridge to Karamunsing Capital.
Abdul Rahman was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of between six months and five years and liability of a fine, on conviction.
He was ordered to serve the jail term from the date of his arrest on July 29.
In another case, an entertainment outlet owner was fined RM3,000 or two months jail for running the premises without a licence.
Ivan Yapp, 44, admitted to committing the offence at The Wolf Kivatu Café, Penampang, at 11.40pm on June 29 this year.
He was charged under Section 3 of the Public Entertainment Ordinance 1958 which provides for a fine of up to RM50,000 or up to one year jail or both, on conviction.
The prosecution informed the court that the police inspected the premises and found its caretaker failed to produce a public entertainment licence.
Meanwhile, two people were penalised for having syabu.
Azri Azmi, 20, was jailed nine months’ after he pleaded guilty to having 0.37gm of syabu at 2am on June 4 at Sadong Jaya here.
Chong Tet Min, 50, was fined RM3,700 or 10 months jail for having 0.57gm of syabu at 10.25pm on June 3 at Inanam town.
They were each charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years jail or both, on conviction.
