Man jailed and caned for raping teenage stepdaughter

A 53-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 18 strokes of the cane for repeatedly raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter in Kelantan.

PASIR MAS: A 53-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 18 strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court here today after pleading guilty to raping his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

Judge Zulkpli Abdullah handed down the sentence after the accused admitted to six separate charges of rape.

The court ordered the man to serve 10 years in jail and receive six strokes of the cane for each of two charges, with all sentences to run concurrently from his date of arrest on April 6.

According to the first three charges, the offences occurred at a house in Tanah Merah between midnight and 4 am on March 31, November 12, and December 5, 2025.

The fourth to sixth charges stated he committed the acts at the same location at 1 am on March 27, 28, and 30, 2026.

All charges were framed under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison, along with whipping.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Aiysha Na’ilah Harizan conducted the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented in court.
