
A dispute over Rs 3,000 allegedly ended in the murder of a 42-year-old migrant labourer from Bihar in Kaithal’s Bhana village late on Sunday night. The victim, Kameshwar Das, was allegedly killed by his friend. The accused has been identified as Umesh alias Ramesh (45), who has been detained by the police.
According to the police, the incident took place around 9.30 pm in the fields of Bhana village, where Kameshwar Das had come to work in agriculture along with Umesh.
On Sunday night, after finishing their agricultural work, the two sat together to consume alcohol. After some time, Umesh noticed that Rs 3,000 was missing from his pocket and accused Kameshwar of stealing the money. The argument quickly escalated into a heated confrontation.
In a fit of rage, Umesh allegedly picked up a hamper and attacked Kameshwar multiple times, resulting in his death.
SHO Pundri Inspector Shiv Kumar said a murder case had been registered against Umesh based on preliminary findings. The victim’s body was sent to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
