
A 21-year-old youth from Marori village, near Samana, allegedly died of drug overdose. Acting on the complaint of the deceased’s sister, the police have registered a case against two of his friends and a woman for providing him drugs that claimed his life.
The deceased has been identified as Shalinder, alias Kala, a labourer. According to the family, Shalinder had returned home after work when his friends, Manjit and Malkit, took him along on the pretext of some urgent work. When he did not return till late at night, the family began searching for him.
The family alleged that the two youths initially denied knowing his whereabouts. However, suspicion arose after Shalinder’s motorcycle was found parked outside their house. When the family entered the house, they found him lying unconscious. He was rushed to the Government Hospital in Samana, where doctors declared him brought dead.
In her complaint, the deceased’s sister, Karamjit Kaur, alleged that Manjit, Malkit and Neelam Kaur had administered an excessive quantity of drug to her brother, leading to his death.”
