Man pleads not guilty to syabu possession charge

Kota Kinabalu: A 21-year-old man was charged with having 81.15gm of syabu on Wednesday.

Sheikh Mohammad Hazmi Abdul Malik, 21, pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan, to the charge against him.

The offence under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and punishable under Section 39A(2)(r) of the same Act which provides for between five years and a life imprisonment, and whipping at least 10 strokes, on conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shafeerah Mad Iskim appeared for the prosecution while counsel Farrah Hamdain defended Sheikh. In another court, a man claimed trial to having 31.71gm of syabu.

He allegedly had the drug at 5pm on Aug 12, 2024 at the Inanam area, near here.

During the proceedings, Jieromi was not represented and the court advised him to contact his family to find a counsel to represent him.
