
A 31-year-old man died after being stabbed multiple times in the Shahbad Dairy area, the police said on Sunday, adding that one accused had been arrested.
The police said they received information regarding a stabbing incident on May 23, following which a team rushed to Mahadev Chowk in Shahbad Dairy. The police later reached MV Hospital in Pooth Khurd, where the victim was admitted with multiple sharp injuries.
The victim has been identified as Narayan Dutt, a resident of Gupta Colony, Prahladpur. His medico-legal case (MLC) recorded alleged stab injuries, and he was declared unfit to give a statement.
The police inspected the CCTV footage from the area, which showed three people assaulting the victim before fleeing the spot, they said.
A case under Sections 109(1)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was initially registered at the Shahbad Dairy police station. The victim was later shifted to Safdarjung Hospital owing to his critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. After his death, Section 103(1) of the BNS was added to the case.
The police said teams were formed to analyse CCTV footage and trace the accused. During investigation, one accused, Suraj (20), a resident of Shahbad Dairy, was apprehended. Efforts were on to arrest the remaining accused, they said.
