
POLICE confirmed a viral video showing the arrest of a man in front of a motorcycle accessories shop on Jalan Tunku Putra, Kulim, during a crime prevention patrol operation.
Kulim Deputy District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Tengku Mohd Faisal Tengku Yeng said the 29-second video recording that went viral on Facebook (FB) showed an incident involving policemen and a suspect.
He said that in the video recording, the suspect was seen being pulled from his motorcycle until he fell before his head was stepped on by the policemen involved.
"Initial investigations found that the case occurred at 11am when police were conducting a crime prevention patrol and arrested the suspect on Jalan Sungai Ular.
"While trying to arrest the suspect, a struggle occurred when the suspect fought the policemen by kicking the policeman’s motorcycle and fled, riding recklessly, going against traffic flow and endangering other road users.
"However, the police managed to track down the suspect in front of a motorcycle accessory shop, Jalan Tunku Putra and arrested him shortly afterwards," he said in a statement.
Tengku Mohd Faisal said that a search of the motorcycle the 32-year-old suspect was riding found two transparent plastic bags suspected of containing ketum leaf decoction.
He said the suspect was taken to the police station for further action and the initial urine screening test also found him positive for methamphetamine.
"Police have opened an investigation paper under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952, Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952 and Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987," he said.
Tengku Mohd Faisal said the suspect will be brought to the Kulim Magistrate's Court for a remand application. – April 21, 2026
