SINGAPORE, Aug 10 — A 56-year-old member of the public disarmed a 34-year-old man who had suffered injuries believed to be self-inflicted in Clementi, Singapore, this afternoon, before police arrived at the scene.
The younger man was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment, Mothership reported.
Police said they received a call for assistance at Block 441B Clementi Avenue 3 at about 12.20pm.
When officers arrived, they found the 34-year-old lying conscious with injuries believed to have been self-inflicted.
Before police reached the scene, the 56-year-old man had taken a knife away from him and disarmed him, according to police.
The older man was not injured but was also taken to hospital conscious as a precaution.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership it had received a call for assistance involving the same incident.
SCDF said one person was taken to National University Hospital and another to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
Photographs posted on Xiaohongshu showed police tape surrounding part of the area, with what appeared to be bloodstains visible on the ground.
Other images posted on the SG News Warehouse Sale & Events Facebook page appeared to show workers cleaning the area afterwards.
The 34-year-old was undergoing treatment, according to Mothership.
Police investigations are ongoing.
