Man United owners face fresh protest as fans fume over season ticket controversy

  • Manchester United supporter group The 1958 has called on fans to stage a peaceful protest outside Old Trafford at 3pm on Sunday prior to the derby against Manchester City.
  • The demonstration is a direct response to a “season ticket ban fiasco” resulting from the club's summer crackdown on ticket touting, which supporters argue has unfairly penalised innocent match-goers.
  • Organisers have urged all fan groups to put aside past disagreements and unite outside the Bishop Blaize pub under the banner “Show the evidence. Lift the bans”.
  • Manchester United previously acknowledged that its enforcement process caused significant distress and conceded that it had underestimated how common account sharing was among loyal fans.
  • The Manchester derby is scheduled to kick off at 4.30pm on Sunday, with United entering the match trailing their local rivals by five points in the league table.
