Manchester United made a move for Yves Bissouma ahead of his sale to Tottenham, it has been revealed.
The former Brighton midfielder joined Spurs on Thursday for a fee rising to £30m.
The Athletic reports United officials put in a 'check call' to Brighton regarding Bissouma but the 25-year-old was not regarded as a serious target.
Frenkie De Jong is top of United's list of priorities but the club and Barcelona remain apart in their valuation of the Dutch player, who joined the Spanish giants for £65million in 2019.
Bissouma is Spurs' third signing already, joining Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.
