Salford City winger Kelly N'Mai had a trial with Manchester United's Under-21s against Leicester on Friday.
The Manchester Evening News has claimed that N'Mai, who is 19, started the game on the left-wing.
He is the second player from Salford, who are owned by members of United's famous Class of 92, to trial at the club this week.
The winger was born in the Netherlands, but has been in England with his family since a young age.
N'Mai is on loan at Chester for the remainder of this season, but was given permission to trial at United.
Salford defender Jacob Lara is another who could join United's academy if he impresses.
