MANILA, Philippines — A man who allegedly brandished a firearm and claimed to be a “general” during a confrontation with a motorist over a parking dispute in Mandaluyong is now being investigated by the City Police Station, on Saturday.
The confrontation reportedly started when the man approached the motorist over a vehicle parked in front of his residence and demanded that it be moved.
A video uploaded by Edz Beley showed the man appearing to prepare a firearm before crossing the street and confronting the driver.
“You know, I’m already mad, this is the third time someone has parked here,” the man said during the confrontation.
He allegedly told the motorist that he was a “general” while insisting that the vehicle be removed and warned that vehicles parked in front of their residence would be towed.
The motorist tried to explain that he had just arrived and that the man may have mistaken his vehicle for another, but the confrontation continued until the driver moved the vehicle.
The Mandaluyong police said investigators were reviewing the footage, identifying the parties involved, and gathering statements from witnesses to verify the circumstances of the incident, including the legality of the firearm.
Authorities said they were treating the matter with urgency, particularly due to the alleged display of a firearm in a public or residential area.
The police reminded the public that firearms must be used responsibly and that using a weapon to threaten or intimidate others may lead to legal and administrative action.
