(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa was a no show on Friday, as the clock ticks on the deadline for his surrender.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said information on the senator have flooded designated hotlines.
Lt. Gen. Wilson Joseph Lopez, Philippine National Police (PNP) deputy chief for Administration appealed anew to Dela Rosa to surrender to prevent casualties.
Lopez called on Dela Rosa to remember his former role as the “father of the PNP,” saying he should not allow police officers, whom he once led, to be placed in danger.
He added that the police were simply performing their duty.
Dela Rosa is the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant over alleged killings inked to former president Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.
The government has also offered a P50 million bounty for information leading to his arrest.
