Manila mayor suspends Tuesday classes

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko" Moreno Domagoso ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools on Tuesday, Aug. 11, because of "inclement weather brought about by the southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by a Low Pressure Area (LPA)."

He made the order upon recommendation of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (Mcdrrmd).

"According to the MCDRRMD, three out of five weather models indicate moderate to heavy rainfall, with PAGASA's latest outlook confirming expected rainfall with intensity ranging from light to moderate, at times heavy, particularly early in the morning and in the afternoon," Domagoso said in a statement issued on Monday evening.

Pagasa stands for Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

"Schools are advised to shift to ADM or Alternative Delivery Mode," Domagoso said.
