THE city government of Manila has rolled out its new Mobile Computer Learning Center, which was turned over on Monday.
During the city’s weekly flag-raising ceremony, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno received two mobile learning facilities donated by the Junior Chamber International (JCI).
The Mobile Computer Learning Center, which will be managed by the Manila City Library Office, will provide learners with access to computers as well as basic digital skills training.
The facility will be stationed in two barangay (villages) every week until it reaches all 896 barangay in the city.
“This will help many of our learners who want to access computers and digital learning, especially those who don’t have access to it,” Moreno added in a Facebook post.
He shared that when he was a counselor in 1998, he launched the Isko Moreno Computer Learning Center, which helped a total of 20,000 graduates.
“That’s why I saw the value of this to the youth, because many of our students went on to further study in the tech industry,” he said.
The mayor hopes that the new facilities will improve students’ digital literacy and inspire them to pursue careers in the technology sector.
