MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Rodante Marcoleta is “clinically stable” and “fit to travel,” but the Philippine National Police General Hospital (PNPGH) Health Service still recommends that he finishes his antibiotics by July 15.
“Clinically stable naman po si Sen. Marcoleta, controlled po ang blood pressure po natin ngayon nakapag pasa na po kami ng medical reports so antayin na lang po natin hanggang dun lang po,” Lt. Col. Benaly Bayani, PNPGH Internal Medicine chief told reporters in an interview on Monday.
(Sen. Marcoleta is clinically stable, his blood pressure is controlled right now, and we have submitted the medical reports, so let's just wait for now.) “Ang ano po namin sa fit to travel completion lang po ng antibiotics is this July 15,” Bayani said.
("Regarding his fitness to travel, we are just waiting for the completion of his antibiotics this July 15.) Benaly said they forwarded Marcoleta’s medical evaluation. During his arrest last July 6, Marcoleta complained of chest and back pains. He was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease or a problem with his spine and a mild pneumonia. Bayani said more tests were needed as the lawmaker's blood pressure kept fluctuating.
A week later, Bayani said Marcoleta could be discharged at any moment but the Sandiganbayan must decide whether the hospital should take custody of the senator while he finishes his medication.
