MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed support for expanding direct air connectivity between Russia and the Philippines, particularly by increasing flights to the country's major tourist destinations.
In a media interview in Kazan, Russia on Thursday, Marcos said the plan would strengthen tourism and people-to-people exchanges between the two nations.
"Certainly, yeah. Very strong. Yes. Absolutely," Marcos said, when asked if the Philippine government will support direct flights of more Russian airlines to the country’s key tourist destinations.
"But you know, we’re not only talking about tourism. Of course, it’s an important part that we would like many more to – both ways for more Filipinos to go to see Russia, for more Russians to come and visit the Philippines," he added.
