MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. congratulated the newly elected members of the Bangsamoro Parliament following the region’s historic elections on September 14.
In a statement on Wednesday, Marcos said the election serves as a monumental step in the region’s journey toward lasting peace and self-governance.
"The first-ever BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) parliamentary elections mark a historic milestone in the Bangsamoro's pursuit of self-governance and lasting peace,” Marcos said.
“The successful conduct of the elections shows that the political process is proceeding at such a good pace," he added.
