PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig City mayor Lino Cayetano as the new general manager of state-owned network People’s Television Network (PTV-4), Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday.
”I am happy to announce that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed former Taguig City Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano as the new General Manager of PTV-4,” Presidential Communications Office Acting Secretary Dave Gomez said in a statement.
”Former Mayor Cayetano brings with him a rare wealth of experience from the media, private and the public sectors that would certainly take PTV-4 to greater heights in our ever-evolving multimedia landscape,” he added.
Cayetano takes over the reins from outgoing PTV Chief Maria Lourdes Fagar.
A film and television director, Cayetano brings with him extensive experience in media, public service and creative leadership. He has directed prime-time shows for all three major Philippine television networks and has worked for more than a decade at ABS-CBN as a director and creative consultant.
Cayetano earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communication from the University of the Philippines and obtained a diploma in film from the New York Film Academy in 1999.
Besides being a respected figure in the entertainment industry, Cayetano likewise built a distinguished career in public service.
He served as a member of the House of Representatives during the 13th Congress of the Philippines and later as mayor of Taguig City from 2019 to 2022.
