THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started Phase 2 of the EDSA Rehabilitation Project along the northbound Ortigas Bus Lane in Mandaluyong City.
The latest phase follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure the continuous upgrading of EDSA to provide a safer, smoother and more efficient travel experience for commuters and motorists.
EDSA Phase 2 rehabilitation is part of the administration’s broader effort to modernize Metro Manila’s busiest highway and improve mobility across the metropolis.
Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon had said that EDSA rehabilitation remains the government’s priority infrastructure project.
Dizon said the repair works are designed not only to restore deteriorating road sections but also to enhance the overall commuting experience.
A key component of the project is the expansion and improvement of sidewalks to provide safer and more comfortable access for pedestrians.
The DPWH chief noted that better pedestrian facilities are essential in easing movement along the heavily congested corridor.
The rehabilitation is also expected to improve road safety and traffic flow.
Officials described EDSA as Metro Manila’s “main transport artery,” carrying hundreds of thousands of commuters and vehicles every day.
With Phase 2 underway, the government aims to sustain the momentum of the massive rehabilitation program while minimizing disruptions to the public.
The DPWH said the project is part of a long-term effort to upgrade critical transport infrastructure and improve connectivity across the National Capital Region.
