MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the prompt release of payments to performing contractors, Malacañang said on Monday.
“The president's order: immediately pay contractors who have performed well on projects,” Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said in Filipino in a briefing, noting that the directive came during the chief executive’s meeting with economic managers last weekend.
“The president urged his cabinet ‘to move forward.’ The president has already directed the secretaries to ensure that agencies focus on the speedy and smooth execution of government infrastructure projects. This is to ensure that Filipinos fully benefit from each project,” she added.
Marcos’ order was also meant to forge better coordination between national and local government units in overseeing infrastructure projects.
With this policy, the government reaffirms its commitment to efficiency, accountability, and inclusive economic development, ensuring that every infrastructure project delivers tangible benefits to the Filipino people, Castro said.
