MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Sunday called for the review of outdated policies to ensure better government services for the people.

In his latest BBM Vlog posted on his Facebook account, the chief executive said what the people want are streamlined processes and an efficient system and not added headaches.

“Here in our country, we have many policies that need to be changed and reviewed. We see it in the news and we hear our countrymen, their complaints,” he said in Filipino.

One example he cited is the need to present an ID to apply for another ID, a practice that is “a reflection of an antiquated system.”

“We are so fond of filling out duplicates or triplicates. For lawyers, they ask for copies, dozens upon dozens, of the same old forms that require the same information. Physical appearance in transactions that can be digital. And there are many others that are just a nuisance,” Marcos said.

“We should not be queuing up at dawn at the government office just to get a document. That is why one of our priorities is the eGov app and digitalization of the government system,” he added.

The president said policies are effective when they are clear, enforceable, and truly make everyday life easier for the people—from discipline and public health to service delivery and ease of doing business.

Citing examples from other countries such as Singapore, France, Spain, Belgium, and the United States, Marcos noted that discipline-focused policies play a key role in shaping orderly and responsible societies.

The President also emphasized the importance of the active cooperation of the people in implementing good policies.

“Policies are culture written as law. Let us know in the comment section if you have any policy suggestions that can help solve our many problems. We look forward to your suggestions,” he said.
