MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines is poised for an artificial intelligence (AI) era, said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his visit to Converge ICT’s Angeles Data Center on Friday.
Marcos said the country is actively laying the groundwork for digital transformation, pointing to domestic sovereign cloud infrastructure as the cornerstone of national data security and artificial intelligence integration.
"We are preparing for the future right now. By establishing our own sovereign data center, cloud and AI infrastructure, we are safeguarding our nation’s data, bridging our islands, and ensuring the Philippines is ready for the AI era,” said Marcos.
Marcos' remarks come after he signed on July 13 Executive Order (EO) No. 119, which sought to modernize and enhance cybersecurity and support the secure digital transformation of government through unified rules on data classification, data residency, and cross-border data transfers.
