MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. highlighted how Filipino cuisine can drive up tourism, vowing to improve transport infrastructure to encourage travelers to explore the country's rich gastronomy.
During his speech at the "Michelin Guide Restaurant Ceremony for Manila and Environs and Cebu 2027" on Thursday, Marcos highlighted how food was a “language everyone can appreciate”—can attract tourists and create value chains that empower domestic food producers.
"Our country is known for our beautiful islands, our rich history, and a vibrant culture. Now, our cuisine can become another reason for travelers to visit, explore our regions, and to stay longer," Marcos said.
