MANILA, Philippines—President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed that he would endorse a candidate to succeed him in the 2028 presidential elections and his party would make alliances with other parties.
Speaking at the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP) Presidential Luncheon in Manila City on Friday, Marcos said he was certain that he would endorse a candidate but stressed it was far too early to make a decision.
“Who that is, I cannot tell you because even I don't know..It's a little early for that,” he said.
He also confirmed that his party—Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP)—will make alliances with other parties.
“I have a political party that I belong to. That political party, the PFP, is going to make its alliances with other parties,” Marcos added.
He noted, however, that he has not yet held formal discussions with any prospective presidential contenders.
