MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will fly to Singapore for a working visit on July 14 to 16, Malacañang announced on Monday.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said the trip is in line with the Marcos administration’s efforts to foster stronger bilateral relations between the two countries, with Singapore as the next chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).
“During this brief working visit, the President is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Discussions are expected to focus on advancing cooperation in trade and investment, the environment and health, and regional and global development, while reaffirming both nations' commitment to Asean centrality and regional stability,” Castro said in a press briefing.
The chief executive is also scheduled to participate in a private roundtable discussion with the Milken Institute at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore, engaging with business leaders as part of the government's initiatives following the Philippines' classification as an upper-middle-income country, she further noted.
First lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, meanwhile, will address the Global Cooperation East Summit upon the invitation of the Future Economic Council, an India-based economic platform that brings together business and economic leaders to promote global strategic economic cooperation.
