Marcos urged to ease rising healthcare costs

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has been asked to expand healthcare access to vulnerable sectors of society by strengthening medical benefits, making medicines and healthcare services more accessible.

Speaking at the 11th Healthcare Sector Meeting with Marcos in Malacañang, Paolo Borromeo, lead for the Private Sector Advisory Council-Healthcare Sector (PSAC Healthcare), said working with the government was crucial in ensuring that the recommendations to lower healthcare costs turn into policy.

“Our goal is to make healthcare more affordable and accessible to every Filipino by strengthening PhilHealth benefits, improving access to medicines, and bringing healthcare services closer to communities, we want to help families get the care they need without worrying as much about the cost,” said Borromeo.

The recommendations aim to ease common healthcare costs for Filipino families, such as buying daily maintenance medicines, paying hospital bills, and traveling far for medical checkups.
