MANILA, Philippines — The Marikina City local government raised the first alarm at the Marikina River on Saturday after the water level reached 15 meters amid heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon, or "habagat."
The Marikina City Public Information Office said the river reached the 15-meter mark at 12:17 p.m.
The water level continued to rise, reaching 15.2 meters by 12:37 p.m.
The first alarm means residents living in areas near the river should remain alert and prepare for possible evacuation.
Residents are urged to stay updated through official advisories and follow evacuation instructions from local authorities if issued.
