MANILA, Philippines — La Mesa Dam was overflowing Saturday evening as its water level rose to 80.32 meters as of 5:50 p.m., 17 centimeters above its 80.15-meter spill level, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Pagasa warned that excess water from the dam would flow into the Tullahan River, potentially affecting low-lying areas in Quezon City, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Malabon and Navotas.
The water level rose from 80.26 meters 30 minutes earlier and 80.24 meters an hour earlier, based on the Pagasa website.
Pagasa warned that continued rainfall over the watershed could further raise the river's water level and advised residents, particularly those near riverbanks, to take appropriate action.
