Marc Marquez overcomes early crash to secure pole for the Hungarian MotoGP, edging Pedro Acosta by 0.053 seconds.

SPANIARD Marc Marquez overcame early drama to claim pole position for the Hungarian MotoGP at Balaton Park on Saturday.

Ducati’s reigning champion edged KTM’s Pedro Acosta by 0.053sec with Fermin Aldeguer of Ducati-Gresini third in an all-Spanish front row.

The final qualifying session, which determines the first 12 starting positions, was marked by almost simultaneous crashes by Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio of Ducati-VR46 on lap one.

Both were able to continue with the Italian securing fourth place on the grid with the sprint race taking place later on Saturday.
