Kota Kinabalu: Marriott International’s four properties in Sabah, through the Marriott Business Council (MBC) East Malaysia, are teaming up with Danau Girang Field Centre (DGFC) on a proposed RM25,000 to RM30,000 upgrade of facilities at SK Tampasak Kinarut, Papar.
The initiative involving Le Méridien KK, KK Marriott Hotel, Sheraton KK and Fairfield by Marriott aims to improve safety and the learning environment for the school’s 412 students and 31 teachers.
The proposed works include repairing damaged ceiling sections, replacing deteriorated handrails and worn wooden flooring, inspecting and upgrading electrical wiring, and repainting classroom common areas and walkways.
Le Méridien KK General Manager and MBC East Malaysia lead Suresh Ramasamy said the collaboration reflected the hotels’ commitment to contributing to the communities where they operate, while providing students and teachers with a safer and more conducive learning environment.
The partnership with DGFC is also expected to include quarterly visits to the school for educational campaigns, awareness talks and other student-focused activities, with major physical works planned during school holidays to minimise disruption to lessons.
