Martin Short has hit pause on his and Steve Martin’s ongoing comedy tour following the sudden death of his daughter, Katherine Short.
Katherine’s death at 42 was confirmed by Martin’s representatives on Tuesday.
Soon after, The Best of Steve Martin & Martin Short tour was postponed, with dates at Milwaukee’s Miller High Life Theatre on February 27 and two shows in Minneapolis on February 28 being pushed back.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Steve Martin & Martin Short’s show, originally scheduled for Friday, February 27th in Milwaukee, has been postponed,” reads a notice on the venue’s website. “Tickets will be honored for a future rescheduled date. We will be in contact with further news when it is available.”
The next stop still listed on the schedule is Friday, March 13, at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.

The two comedy veterans have been touring together since 2015, when they launched their first live show entitled A Very Stupid Conversation.
Friends for over three decades, the pair are best known to younger fans for co-leading Disney’s Emmy-winning drama Only Murders in the Building alongside Selena Gomez.
According to TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call at Katherine’s home in the Hollywood Hills Monday evening, where she was found deceased.
“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short. The Short family is devastated by this loss, and asks for privacy at this time,” Martin’s representative told The Independent in a statement.
“Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
Katherine is the oldest of Martin and his late wife Nancy Dolman’s three adoptive children; the former couple is also parents to sons Oliver Patrick Short, 39, and Henry Hayter Short, 36. Dolman died in 2010 after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
In 2006, Katherine graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and gender sexuality studies from New York University before moving on to receive her master’s in social work from the University of Southern California in 2010.
Katherine spent four years at UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital before joining the dual-diagnosis outpatient program at the Camden Center. She later moved into private practice as a licensed clinical social worker and also worked part-time at the clinic Amae Health.
