Mary J Blige has opened up about her decision not to have children.
Speaking to Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson on their IMO podcast on an episode released on Wednesday (19 August), the R&B singer revealed that she saw a lot of people “struggling” with caring for their own children.
“I see a lot, you know, my family members needing babysitters and them not having a choice, no freedom,” she said, explaining that she was younger when she decided she was not going to become a parent.
She said that with age, she now sees how “valuable” children are to their parents and sometimes has regrets about her choice. “Sometimes I’m lonely,” she confessed.
Though ultimately she said that she is happy with the direction of her life. “I accept it; it is what it is.”
