KUALA LUMPUR — Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin has resigned as chief of Bersatu’s Masjid Tanah division, together with 39 other committee members.
Shahrul Azhar Amir, who also stepped down as the division’s secretary, confirmed the resignations following a special meeting held earlier today.
“Today, Bersatu Masjid Tanah held a special meeting attended by the division committee, wing leaders and branch heads,” Shahrul Azhar said in a statement posted on social media.
“The two-hour meeting went smoothly, during which the division chief provided updates on the latest developments in Bersatu’s political conflicts.
“This special session also unanimously recorded that this action was taken due to a loss of confidence in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as president. With our resignations, the Masjid Tanah Division Committee is hereby officially dissolved,” he added.
Mas Ermieyati later confirmed to the press that she and the other division leaders had submitted their resignations.
The wave of departures has also reached Bersatu divisions in Perak, following the dismissal of Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin as deputy president.
Those stepping down include Mohd Amran Ibrahim, deputy chief of Tanjung Malim; Ahmad Man, chief of Bukit Gantang; and Ismail Ali, chief of Bagan Serai. All committee members in the affected divisions resigned alongside their leaders.
In Sarawak, Bintulu became the first division in the state to leave Bersatu en masse.
Duke Janteng, the division chief, said 110 members, including branch leaders and members of the party’s youth and women’s wings, had chosen to resign.
“We no longer have confidence in Bersatu’s leadership under Muhyiddin,” he said.
“The party has strayed far from its original mission, particularly in defending the rights and interests of Sarawak’s indigenous communities.” — February 19, 2026
