CONSISTENT support for government policies is crucial to preserving political stability and ensuring Sabah continues to progress, Parti Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Karanaan candidate Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun told a youth forum in Ranau.
Speaking at the Coffee Break with Masidi x Anak Muda – Vol 3.0 programme, organised by local youth at Dewan Serbaguna Muhibbah, Masidi said the engagement was an important platform to bring young people closer to the state’s administrative direction.
“This programme is held to disseminate information on government policies currently being implemented, including development initiatives, education support, welfare assistance and various other efforts that directly benefit the people,” he said.
Masidi, who attended as the special guest, added that the informal setting enabled frank exchanges.
“I had the opportunity to interact directly with young people through open question-and-answer sessions and constructive two-way discussions. This session allowed youth to put forward views, offer suggestions and seek clarification in a relaxed environment,” he said.
The event was also attended by Datuk Amisah Yassin, who has long championed youth involvement in community-building and capacity development.
Local residents at the forum took the opportunity to highlight Masidi’s longstanding role in advancing Ranau’s development. Darrence Dallius said Masidi’s commitment to the district was evident through the various initiatives he had championed over the years.
“Masidi is always attentive to the needs of the people and provides welfare assistance fairly, regardless of race or religion. His support for non-governmental organisations and both new and established clubs has helped drive community activities in Ranau,” he said.
Darrence, from Kampung Poring, added that Masidi’s leadership should be assessed through tangible improvements.
“People should evaluate leadership based on facts and visible progress in the district over the past few years. I believe Masidi should be given the chance to continue leading in Karanaan because many important plans still need to be carried forward for Ranau’s development,” he said.
He also expressed gratitude for Masidi’s contributions and encouraged young voters to turn out at the polls for the future of the district.
For Jericho Noel H. Mining, 19, a student at SMK Mat Salleh, Masidi’s extensive political experience stands as a convincing reason for continuity in leadership.
Jericho said Masidi’s contributions to schools and students, including funding for clubs and associations, had left a meaningful impact.
He recalled that his father had long spoken positively of Masidi, shaping his perception of the incumbent assemblyman. Jericho added that Masidi’s leadership style, which he described as close to the people, had driven real change in the district.
“The changes that have taken place in Ranau over recent years show that Masidi’s leadership brings direct benefits to the community,” he said. - November 23, 2025
