Max Holloway has opened the door to a high-profile rematch with Conor McGregor. The former featherweight champion is now looking ahead after a difficult month inside the Octagon.

Holloway recently lost his BMF title to Charles Oliveira via unanimous decision at UFC 326. The defeat has reshaped his immediate future, and he has no clue about who could come next for him.

At the same time, McGregor’s potential return continues to dominate headlines. The Irishman has been linked with multiple comeback scenarios, and ‘Blessed’ threw his name into the mix of potential opponents for the 37-year-old.

Holloway addressed the possibility of a rematch with ‘The Notorious’ directly in a recent video on his YouTube channel.

“155 lbs is looking really busy at the top so we’ll see what happens. I don’t know what guys they want to send my way, but, like I said before the fight, Conor’s there you know, Conor got one over me, he’s talking about coming back, I’m coming off a loss… I mean, it looked pretty fun to get down back with him.

“I know a lot of people worry about the weight and this and that, but if he doesn’t want to cut weight then I don’t want to cut weight. We can do it at any weight, to be honest, it’s just about getting it back. So, at the end of the day, that would be a fun fight, but we see what happens.”

The comments make clear Holloway is open to flexible terms, focusing more on the opportunity than the division.

It would be a huge opportunity for UFC, matching up two fighters used to delivering great fights on the big stages.

Max Holloway still chasing redemption from 2013 loss

A rematch would carry significant history. Holloway and McGregor first met in August 2013 at a UFC Fight Night event headlined by Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Chael Sonnen.

On that night, McGregor secured a unanimous decision victory, handing Holloway one of the earliest defeats of his career.

More than a decade later, both fighters are in very different positions. Holloway has built a legacy as one of the sport’s most respected champions, but he is not even close to a title shot now.

Meanwhile, McGregor remains one of combat sports’ biggest draws and is planning to come back to MMA after almost five years.

A second meeting would blend unfinished business with major commercial appeal.
