WWE have been much more open to hosting events outside of the United States in recent years, especially in Europe.

This coming Sunday will see WWE host Clash in Italy, with Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu among the notable matches announced for the card.

In the lead up to the Premium Live Event, the company are on a small tour of Europe, most recently putting on a house show in Liverpool, England, where Cody Rhodes has now teased that WWE ‘should’ do a PLE.

Cody Rhodes teases WWE Clash in Liverpool

WWE scrapped house shows during TKO’s ownership of the company, but they have been brought back recently.

At the latest show, Rhodes has been filmed speaking to the Liverpool crowd after his match.

When doing so, he praised how loud the fans were and even went as far as to say the next instalment of WWE’s ‘Clash in…’ PLE should be on Merseyside.

In the video shared by WrestleTalk on X/Twitter, he said: “You guys [the Liverpool crowd] sound great. We should be doing Clash in Liverpool. Maybe next year.”

WWE’s first-ever PLE (previously known as pay-per-views) in the United Kingdom saw SummerSlam held at Wembley in 1992.

After many years away from the UK, WWE eventually returned to host Clash at the Castle in Cardiff back in 2022.

In England, their most recent PLE was Money in the Bank 2023, which was held in London, while Liverpool have never hosted a PLE/PPV in their history.

Will the UK ever host a WrestleMania?

While having another ‘Clash in…’ PLE held in the UK would be a positive for fans, they would no doubt much prefer to finally see WrestleMania on their own turf.

WWE are set to host WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia, so they are seemingly more willing to put on their marquee event away from the United States.

Whether or not it will ever happen in the UK remains to be seen, but Rhodes has previously said he wanted it to happen ‘within five years’ when speaking back in 2024.

As per the BBC, he stated: “If I’m aiming, it would be cool to get it [in the UK] in the next five years.

“There’s some really big venues over here that could host a WrestleMania. I think American fans would jump at the chance to come to a WrestleMania [overseas], whether that be in Manchester or London, I think they’d go nuts for it.”
