Russian air defences shot down at least 23 Ukrainian drones headed for Moscow over the course of Saturday, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.
"Experts are currently examining the wreckage," the state news agency TASS quoted him as saying. He did not specify the intended targets of the drones.
Earlier, Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) reported a drone strike on an oil pumping station that it described as critical to fuel supplies for the Russian capital.
A technical building at the station in Vtorovo, near the regional capital Vladimir to the east of Moscow, had been hit, the SBU said. It was the second successful attack on the facility within a month, it added.
The Ministry of Defence in Moscow said that a total of 124 Ukrainian drones had been shot down over various parts of Russia throughout the day. The ministry provided no details regarding potential damage caused by the drone strikes.
Ukraine has been defending itself for over four years against the Russian war of aggression ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Kiev has increasingly targeted strategically important sites deep inside Russian territory with drones and missiles, including facilities linked to the oil industry.
Following repeated attacks on energy infrastructure, several Russian regions have reported fuel shortages.
