KUALA SELANGOR, Jan 2 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, via its foundation, has contributed 300 food baskets to flood victims in Taman Seri Alam, Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh.
The group’s chief executive officer Dato’ Saipolyazan M Yusop also announced a RM10,000 donation to the Taman Seri Alam Residents’ Association for welfare initiatives or programmes in the area.
“On the first day of the incident, the MBI Foundation mobilised aid for residents, including providing 300 pre-cooked meal packs daily, which will continue until tomorrow,” he said.
Speaking after the handover ceremony today, Saipolyazan said that MBI had also deployed staff from KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) to assist with post-flood cleaning in affected areas and residents’ homes.
“KDEBWM is helping residents with the cleaning process and the removal of damaged items to restore their homes to their original condition.
“The cleaning assistance has been completed, but we are ready to provide further help if needed. Simultaneously, local councillors and the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council’s (MPKS) Special Action Squad have been instrumental in mobilising the necessary assistance,” he said.

Meanwhile, Taman Seri Alam Residents’ Association chairman Sazalie Basran expressed gratitude for the aid and hopes such incidents will not recur.
“We estimate that approximately 237 homes suffered losses exceeding RM10,000, with some possibly reaching RM30,000. We are thankful for the various forms of assistance, including from KDEBWM, which has helped ease our burden.
“Residents are still traumatised; the water from the retention bund came rushing in like a ‘head of water.’ There was no time to save belongings; all we could think about was saving lives because the water rose so quickly,” he said.
During the incident on Sunday (December 29), the retention bund near Taman Seri Alam burst, flooding the surrounding residential area. However, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
MPKS’ Zone 23 councillor Maisarah Ismail said that a similar incident occurred in 2015, but Sunday’s incident was comparatively more severe.
