KUALA LUMPUR – Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI Selangor, today formalised a strategic partnership with Farmerex Sdn Bhd through the exchange of two agreements for the development of a commercial aquaculture farming project at the Sungai Lang Fisheries Industrial Zone (“ZIPS”), Sabak Bernam.

The exchange ceremony, held at Kuala Lumpur, involved a Land Lease Agreement covering 50 acres for aquaculture farming purposes, as well as a Joint Venture Agreement for the development of a commercial aquaculture farm.

MBI Selangor was represented by the Head of Sabak Bernam Development Zone, Puan Zannifa Azura Ahmad, while Farmerex Sdn Bhd was represented by its Managing Director, Tuan Teoh Han Boon. The ceremony was witnessed by YB Dato’ Haji Rizam bin Haji Ismail, EXCO for Rural Development, Unity and Consumer Affairs, who is also Chairman of the Sabak Bernam Consultative Council.

Farmerex Sdn Bhd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Camaroe Berhad, a company listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia, with extensive experience in the aquaculture industry and fisheries processing.

This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing modern aquaculture development at ZIPS, with a primary focus on high-technology commercial shrimp farming. The project will also be the first operational venture to commence at ZIPS since its official launch by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor, on 25 April 2026.

As one of the key catalytic projects under the Sabak Bernam Development Area (SABDA), the development of ZIPS aligns with the aspirations of the Selangor State Government to strengthen food security, advance the blue economy, and accelerate sustainable and inclusive rural development.

ZIPS is envisioned as an integrated fisheries industry hub encompassing aquaculture farming, seafood processing, cold chain logistics, and downstream value-added industries. This development is expected to strengthen the state’s fisheries ecosystem while increasing local seafood production capacity to meet both domestic and export demand.

In addition to supporting national food security priorities, the project is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for local economic growth through the creation of quality employment opportunities, talent development, and greater youth participation in modern, technology driven aquaculture.

Commenting on the collaboration, Group Chief Executive Officer of MBI Selangor, YBhg. Dato’ Ts. Saipolyazan M. Yusop said, “This strategic collaboration marks another significant step by MBI Selangor in realising the state’s agenda for sustainable and high impact economic development. The development of modern aquaculture at ZIPS will not only strengthen the state’s food supply chain, but also create new economic opportunities for local communities, particularly in Sabak Bernam. MBI Selangor remains committed to facilitating strategic investments that drive high-value industry development, in line with SABDA’s aspiration as a new economic growth driver in northern Selangor.”

The collaboration between MBI Selangor and Farmerex Sdn Bhd reflects the Selangor State Government’s continued commitment to attracting strategic investments, stimulating regional economic growth, and strengthening Sabak Bernam’s position as a progressive, sustainable, and competitive emerging economic hub.
