Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Youth Council (MBS) has called for calm and restraint over the proposed concert involving international artiste Israel Houghton in here.
MBS president Abqaree Fawwaz (pic) Abekan said public sensitivities, social harmony and public order should be given due consideration in decisions involving the public interest.
He said MBS respected the jurisdiction of the Sabah Government, Royal Malaysia Police and relevant agencies to assess the event based on laws, procedures, security considerations and prevailing circumstances.
He said MBS did not want to pre-empt any process or decision by the authorities, but public concerns and sensitivities should also be heard and considered fairly and responsibly.
MBS also urged youths to avoid spreading unverified information or making statements or taking actions that could heighten tensions, stressing that differences of opinion could be addressed without compromising Sabah’s harmony.
