The Municipal Commissioner, Amit Kumar, on Tuesday conducted an inspection of the Sector 17 Plaza Market to review the upkeep, maintenance and overall condition of the city’s prime commercial hub.
He was accompanied by MC Chief Engineer Sanjay Arora, senior municipal corporation officials and representatives of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal led by its president Sanjeev Chadha.
During the visit, the team reviewed several civic and infrastructure-related issues, including damaged open-to-sky flooring, non-functional fountains, poor landscaping maintenance, inadequate street lighting and the condition of pedestrian and public utility areas.
The commissioner emphasised that Sector 17 Plaza, being the city’s iconic public and commercial destination, must be maintained in a clean, safe and aesthetically appealing manner.
Taking serious note of the deficiencies, directions were issued to the concerned wings of the municipal corporation to conduct a comprehensive survey and prepare a time-bound action plan for repair, restoration and beautification works.
