Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old mechanic charged with causing the death of a man during a drinking session will go trial on Dec 9-10.
Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain set the date for Zazlieandy Zaiuddin who maintained his plea of not guilty when his case was brought for pre-trial case management on Wednesday.
Zazlieandy is accused of committing culpable homicide not amounting to murder of the 28-year-old man between 4.30am and 5.20am on July 27, 2023 at a junction in Kg Pasir Putih, Putatan.
The offence under Section 304 (a)/34 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 30 years and liability of a fine, upon conviction.

Pending the date, the court ordered Zazlieandy to be remanded further.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Al Hakim Razak appeared for the prosecution while counsel Kotventt E. Jomiji defended Zazlieandy.
Meanwhile, some 43 people were jailed for committing immigration offences.
The Indonesians and Filipinos pleaded guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain.
Forty-one of them were jailed four months for entering the State without any valid document.
They were charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, on conviction.
Meanwhile, the other two were jailed 12 months each for staying in the State after their passports were expired.
The 43 were ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrests.
After completing their jail term, the court ordered the 43 to be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation.
