KUALA LUMPUR - Reporters and photographers gathered outside the residence of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Langgak Duta here following speculation that he had been granted house arrest.
Sinar Harian observed local and international media personnel arriving at the residence at around 11am to follow the latest developments on the matter.
However, no movement in or out of the residence had been observed so far.
The situation comes as Federal Territories Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Hannah Yeoh was seen leaving the Istana Negara grounds here at 9.42am on Friday.
Her vehicle had entered the Istana Negara grounds at around 7.48am.
Hannah was believed to be at Istana Negara to attend the Federal Territories Pardons Board meeting.
The issue of a pardon for former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has returned to the spotlight following media reports that the Federal Territories Pardons Board would reconvene a week after the matter was deferred at its September 11 meeting.
The reports also claimed that the meeting had only one item on its agenda, namely Najib’s pardon application.
On September 11, the Federal Territories Pardons Board, chaired by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, deferred Najib’s pardon application to its next meeting.
